Located in the Muhanga district at the center of Rwanda, Sholi has been producing coffee for over a decade. The cooperative’s name speaks to its members working together to improve both their coffee and the greater community.Nearly half (157) of Sholi’s 386 members are women, including 2 of the 5 board members making it one of the only women produced co+ops in the region. In 2016, Sholi received a grant and funding from coffee importing partners to build both a community center and regional health center to serve members and local residents, giving a new life to the community. Today, over 400,000 trees have been planted around the co+op to fight deforestation and to support ethical growing practices.
